MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS IN NOYNOY'S EXPOSE

President Aquino’s expose on alleged anomalies in the importation  of rice last year left MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS.

And unless National Food Authority (NFA) Administrator Lito Banayo substantiates the expose, it would be nothing more than a PUBLICITY STUNT to divert the people’s attention to the sufferings they’re now going through.

Dahil parang KAKAMBAL ng buwan iyong expose, BUTAS-BUTAS.

Noynoy claimed that based on Banayo’s audit, the country would need 1.3 million tons of rice last year. But the previous administration bought 2.5 million tons.

Questions: WHO did the audit, HOW was it done and WHAT are the qualifications of the auditor? Are there records to prove that 2.5 million tons were indeed imported?

Noynoy said the imported rice was overpriced by $60 to $120 based on the benchmark prices of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Questions: What was the benchmark price of the FAO? As of what year or timeframe was this benchmark? What was the price of the imported rice from the country of origin? What is the justification for basing the supposed overprice based on FAO rates?

Nonoy said the manager’s checks issued by the person who was allowed to import the rice came only from one bank, and were issued one after another, in sequential order.

Noynoy added that the Philippines had yet to consume all of the  imported rice.

Questions: Then WHY must the NFA INCREASE rice prices if the imported rice is yet to be consumed? Doesn’t the law of supply and demand say the more the stocks, the CHEAPER the COST?

Welcome sumagot ang NFA anytime.

From our blogmates:

SUSAN CUNANAN of Makati on our blog “Is hunger being really fought?”
Mr. Antonio, you're so right, and FYI we don't have forever.

It's getting harder. Kabi-kabila ang increase ng prices, mapa-fare, toll, basic commodities, etc. etc. Wala namang increase sa suweldo. The hungry gets hungrier by the minute. The poor is in deep shit. We have criminals and crooks in uniforms doing their worst. Yung mga nagpapasasa sa pera ng bayan, mga nakangiti at naka dyaryo pa.

Are we any nearer to the so-called TUWID NA LANDAS? Do you think this is the TAMANG DAAN to die? Ang tingin po ba nila sa amin ay mga langgam lang?
