LET'S NOT FORGET JPE, FVR, HONASAN FOR EDSA 1!

May Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Gringo Honasan, former President Fidel Ramos. the Reform the Armed Forces Movement (RAM) and all EDSA 1 personalities get the PROPER RECOGNITION they deserve from now on.

That together with the late former President Cory Aquino, they also brought back democracy to our country.

I’m sure Mrs. Aquino would not mind it from where she is now.

Let’s set the record straight shall we, especially for those who were not born yet during EDSA 1.

Yes, Mrs. Aquino had the courage to face former President Ferdinand Marcos head-on even though she was a plain housewife then. From the rallies after Ninoy’s assassination to the snap elections.

But her zeal and patriotism were not enough to convince the people to swoop down, and hold fort, on EDSA for three days to force Marcos out of office.

That was the only time the people TOOK OVER EDSA.

It was only then that they turned themselves into a human barricade against the tank crews and foot soldier still loyal then to Marcos.

Butz Aquino and the late Jaime Cardinal Sin called out for people power on EDSA, yes, but only after they learned of what Enrile and Honasan’s group had done.

Neither did Butz and their followers openly take up arms against Marcos. These are FACTS. And in fairness to Enrile, Honasan, Ramos and RAM, they are not asking for recognition.

  1. yes. i was there to cover the event for People's Journal on the first day of EDSA one. me kuha pa nga ako na nasa likod nina JPE at Ramos habang nagpi-prescon, announcing their breakaway from FM, at Camp Aguinaldo na lumabas sa Manila TImes. The rest is history now. But the sad thing is me nabago ba sa bansa natin after EDSA 1?

  2. Nakakalungkot na after 25 years remembering the moment in EDSA, stiil the same. Pinoys are not thinking of the best thing that can do for the Country but there's some few doing their best to move on and protect the image of our native land. But very popular, those people keep on trying to ruin the Filipinos, dstroys their fellow Leaders...and a lot more when it comes to moral value.
