METRO MANILA, LAGUNA, CAVITE, BULACAN, RIZAL RESIDENTS READ THIS!

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) deputy administrator Bartolome Bautista has warned that the Marikina West Valley fault line could move anytime and trigger a 7.2 magnitude earthquake.

The fault line runs from the Sierra Madre to Sta. Rosa in Laguna and Carmona, Cavite, cutting through Bulacan, Rodriguez, Rizal, Quezon City, eastern Metro Manila including Pasig, Taguig, Muntinlupa and San Pedro and Sta. Rosa towns in Laguna.

To residents of these areas, START TALKING TO YOUR MAYORS AND GOVERNORS NOW! Include your congressmen and senators as well.

Since Bautista says the quake can happen ANYTIME, better find out now where or which exactly is the evacuation center for your neighborhood. More importantly, are there RESERVE FOODSTUFFS and drinking water for the center?

And as I’ve said in an earlier blog, are there standing arrangements with manufacturers or suppliers for IMMEDIATE PURCHASES once disaster strikes?

Ask your local officials which buildings have been deemed UNSAFE and avoid these as much as possible from now on. Demand an explanation on what have they done about these. If they cite operational problems like limited budget, ask them what are they doing to solve it.

Local and provincial government units have budgets for publications.

If you have not received any printed guidelines on disaster preparedness, especially earthquakes like what Phivolcs has just warned, start demanding for some. It’s your taxes which they spend.

If they’ll say there’s no budget, DEMAND AN EXPLANATION. Better yet, EXPOSE THEM IN MEDIA.

Do the same things for your congressmen and senators. They’re supposed to represent your districts or regions in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Flood them with letters, or overrun their offices and homes with your visits. Ask them WHAT SPECIFICALLY HAVE THEY DONE, OR DO THEY INTEND TO DO,  to protect you from the Marikina West Valley fault quake.

Whoever fails to give a satisfactory answer, and whoever refuses to entertain you or go down to your barangays and neighborhoods for consultations, they are the ones YOU SHOULD NOT VOTE FOR IIN 2013.

ANTRI BAGTAS of Toronto, Canada:
My house is 10 kilometers away from our nuclear power plant east of Toronto. We do not have bunkers here. What we have are Iodine capsules to be taken in the event of a radiation fallout, children first, then adults. We may be evacuated in one call if needed. Our government is ready for this.  But spreading false texts is so insensitive and so irresponsible. They are like barking dogs from nowhere. Mag-isip muna (kayo) bago manloko, o talagang luko-loko (lang kayo).

OLIVE VECINA of Bacoor, Cavite:
Nakakahiya tayong mga PILIPINO sa ginagawang pamamalakad ng Japanese government sa mga tao dun dahil sa radiation fallout problem. Napaka well disciplined. Kung sana, naumpisahan tayo sa mas maganda noon ay hindi sana mangyayari lahat ng pamimintas dito sa atin. Kaya yang mga text na yan totoo na aksayado sa load ng walang katuturan.

JOHN CHRISTIAN BALINGIT of Davao City:
Sometimes, for having so much to gain from what man has
invented for his own glory and fame, he forgets his responsibility to  mother nature and mankind as he dismisses the catastrophic consequences he knew (was) not impossible to happen.

ALBERTO ROJO of Bacolod City:
Congrats for your kind initiative to inform the public of relevant concerns. Mabuhay ka! 30

  1. The Marikina faultline is realy a big scare. One time I inspected a house east of Manila, the structure of the whole house was in a sorry state because of the ground movement, even though there was no earthquake that time. But another thing about the hundred of subdivisions particularly in Marikina, Cainta and nearby, check your ground, for cracks on the floor, check for voids on your walls, and unusual levels of your lots. But most of all stay alert at all times. Do not panic, remember, it is panic that kills not the earthquake.

  2. I have a question. Does the fault line in Cavite covers all the lands there? One thing that i have searched is that Bacoor and Imus was one of them but Dasmarinas City was outside the typhoon belt and has no fault line constraints. ?
