GENERATING JOBS FOR COLLEGE GRADS!

Our blogmate, JAY RON DE CASTRO, suggested this topic.

Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of college graduates are added to the labor force every year. Question: Does the government have a plan, or program, on how to generate jobs specifically for these kids in the next five years?

I’m not saying that the older or less-schooled job-hunters should be disregarded. Everybody deserves a fair shake.

I just am being particular with them for two reasons, in one:

As our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal says, the kids are the country’s hope for the future. So the earlier they’re trained professionally, the more efficient they will be when it’s their turn to run the country.

So, is the Aquino Administration DOING ANYTHING, or HAS IT STARTED DOING SOMETHING for these kids?

This problem is not as simple as it appears to be.

First, you’ve got to have connections in or access to data on the manpower needs of as many companies as possible, as in. And not just local but foreign especially, considering their number.

Second, the Aquino Government has to attract as many investors as possible, again both foreign and local. To do this, it must have, among others, a feasible economic development plan, social and political stability and high credit ratings.

Let me emphasize, political stability, NOT POLITICKING.

Third, the Aquino Government MUST INVEST on the people. It must spend more on job-generating ventures like infrastructure projects and skills trainings, instead of birth control stuff which are good enough only for one use and benefits foreign makers only.

Infrastructure projects will require professionals. Skills trainings can produce professionals.

Fourth, a centralized data bank for fresh college graduates will be very helpful in matching one’s degree and academic records with job openings both here and abroad as fast as possible.

There are other possible solutions. But again, the question is: Has the Aquino Government done any of these?

Thirteen of our friends on “Time to ask what Aquino Gov’t has done for us”:

MIGUEL LOPEZ II

"It looks like PNOY is getting bogged down with the anti-corruption cases and charges against the Arroyo family and her ilks. Napapabayaan ang mga tunay na programa na dapat niyang harapin which is poverty, homelessness, genuine land reform and just, decent wages for workers…not forgetting the never-ending increases in transport, food and toll.

JAY RON DE CASTRO

We want our nation to become a first-class country but if the Pnoy government will only focus on the filing of cases versus the group of Arroyo, I think, our country will not prosper, but suffer. We should pay attention to our poor countrymen.

DATU CAMAD ALI of Dumaguete City

Thank you, Boyet. You have a nice question about the President

EDUARDO VERZOLA

They have shamed popular people and destroyed the lives of those they find enemies of their soul.

MELANIE DOMINGO TILLES of Jeddah, SaudiArabia

How about being richer in a short period of time?

ARMANDO CONTI of San Francisco, California, USA

Appointing classmates, friends of classmates and friends won’t help.

ROGELIO GLORIA ROBERTO of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Wala, puro pagasa lang!

JOHN BRUCE

Never heard anything but pure blah! blah! Blah!

RONALD CARPIO of Makati City

Pnoy may have done nothing yet, but he's now doing something to turn this country into oblivion or civil war, with his too arrogant statement against pro-life groups! Who's afraid of his armies?

SHEILA ESPERANZA CIELO TILAN of London, United Kingdom

Sorry to say that he has not accomplished anything.

REBECCA KOOMANS of Queensland, Australia

Just having rich, mindless idiots in power is mentally exhausting!

JUAN DELA CRUZ

Can you imagine… five more years. It's mentally draining just thinking about it.

JOSHUA DAVID

Alam ninyo ang puno’t dulo ng problema sa Pilipinas ay ang mabagal at mahabang paglilitis sa mga kaso. Sobrang bagal ang justice system.

Seven of our friends on “Pnoy should explain increase in his wealth”:

JEAN MANCAO SMITH of Carson City, Nevada, USA

Thanks for this info. Wow! Can Aquino not see the financial needs of the Filipinos? Or is adding close to P 40 million his way of fighting corruption (does he even know the true meaning of corruption)?

MANNIX FORTZ of Seattle, Washington, USA

The probability of campaign contributions is strong. The next questions should be: Who are his contributors? Are they locals or foreigners? I hope it has nothing to do with why he is he making so much effort in passing the RH Bill, because I believe its foreign backers have millions of dollars to see to it that it is approved by Congress.

INDAYROSE CASTEEL of Los Angeles, California, USA

I think they are already very wealthy before he became President.

CAMON EILLOR

Detailed explanation is a must.

NORALYN OBIEN JARA of Hong Kong

Dapat lang!

MANUEL TOLENTINO JR. of Manila

Perhaps, it would be more appealing for a President to explain an increase in his wealth when it is a BILLION rather than just the 39.56M. This, i guess, can happen to any ordinary gov’t employee or ordinary citizen.

YASIMIRA MATU

Why? Of course, maraming pera mana sa magulang. 30

  2. Boyet,

Help me with the campaign to change the 111-year-old present justice system where the decisions lie only with the judge on the guilt or innocence, the fiscal on charges of ordinary crimes, the Ombudsman on charges of corruption and the Comelec on charges of election offenses.

We in the Hukuman ng Mamamayan Movement Inc. (HMMI) are proposing to institute JURY SYSTEM, where the Grand Jury in every province or city shall be the one that will decide on who to charge in court in all kinds of crimes, corruption and election offenses.

This Grand Jury will be peopled by at least 23 persons finally chosen after a raffle to call about 300 for interviews and final screening for final appointment. Those chosen shall serve for six (6) months only and they will be replaced by another group of 23 and this cycle of turnover will continue till the end of time of the Earth. Their faces and names will not be revealed to the public. IMAGINE the number of employment that will be had if all provinces and cities are to have Grand (inquest) Juries that are filled up and if we give preference to the unemployed.

With this secrecy rule, we can be assured of independence in deciding who to hail to courts to be issued with warrants of arrest.

Then, we propose that during trials, it shall be the Trial Jury that will hear and decide the questions of which are true and which are false while the questions of what and how laws shall apply will be the duty of the judge who will also act as the presiding officer of the court.

There will be 12 jurors and 2 alternates who will be chosen for every case (civil or criminal) and the final choices shall be taken from those raffled from the voters' list in the province where the court sits. Those jurors shall be known only by the numbers given them. IMAGINE AGAIN how many will be employed every year if we give preference to unemployed, and if we were to try 3,000 cases a year?

Many, especially lawyers and judges as well as justices, argue that we are a nation where majority are vote sellers. I thank because NOT ALL sell their votes. At least, in one province of 100,000, we still have about 30,000 who have principles from where we can narrow down the choices for jury duties.

Others argue that our clannish culture may affect independence, which I think is not a problem because the choices shall be enlarged province-wide and it is very much possible to get jurors who have no blood or marriage relationships with any party in a case.

THE MOST STRIKING is that THE TRIAL LASTS ONLY FROM ONE TO TWO WEEKS--THE SPEEDIEST IN THE WORLD. In Japan, their first jury trial started on August 3, 2009 was completed on the fourth day with a conviction of a murder suspect.

THE INDEPENDENCE assures better rigidity that it will develop a culture of fear among the would-be abusers and law violators.

Hoping you give this matter much of your energy as an effective writer.
