PROBE CELFONE FIRMS FOR TEXT PRANKSTERS!

MOBILE PHONE companies are the FIRST ONES who should be probed for the spread of hoax text messages saying the Philippines will be affected by radiation from the nuclear reactor explosions in Japan.

First and foremost, they sold the mobile phones and sim cards being used by pranksters. They have a record of all their buyers, or the distributor or dealer who sold the phone or sim cards.

Hoax text messages AUTOMATICALLY FOLLOW every time there is a an event as big as the Japan quake.

Mayroon na ba kayong nabalitaang naparusahan, kundi man nakasuhan?

Have you ever read or heard of even ONE SERIOUS, NON-STOP effort by ALL the mobile phone companies to identify and apprehend pranksters? I have not. And I will be happy to correct myself if I have to.

Second, it’s the mobile phone companies WHO WILL BENEFIT, or should I say EARN, THE MOST with hoax chain text messages.

Consider this, guys: a GREATER MAJORITY of us 80 million or so Filipinos own or use mobile phones. So even if only 5 percent pass along a prank text imagine HOW MANY MILLIONS would that be in just A FEW SECONDS for the mobile phone companies.

I’m ruling out anti-government groups in this nuke fallout hoax.

Lastly, prank text messages spread like wildfire once it starts. As if there is a data bank of numbers on standby for pranksters. Only mobile phone companies have a COMPLETE list of numbers CURRENTLY IIN USE.

SWAYNE CUNANAN of Cavite:

Excuse me po, Mr. A. Yung direction po ba ng wind hindi nagbabago? For me kasi, if we're going to be affected, wala tayong magagawa, short of hiding in bunkers (which we don't have) until it's all over. Airborne yun eh. Anyway, hindi naman magmamanifest agad yung effect, if ever there is, di ba?

RAFAEL GOMEZ of Makati City:

CAS MAYOR  of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:

I agree that the public listen only to the right authorities regarding any rumors about Japan's nuke fallout reaching the Philippines.

EGAY MONTANA, a former colleague at Philippine Journalists Inc.:

I’ve read  your blog. You’re right. 30

  1. My house is 10 kilometres away from our Nuclear Power Plant east of Toronto, in Canada. Our schools have always given us notices in case of Nuclear scenarios. We do not have bunkers here, what we have are Iodine capsules to be taken in the event of a radiation fallout, children first, then adults. we may be evacuated in one call if it is needed. So be it, we chose this place, our government is ready for this if ever. If not, then God be with us then.
But spreading false texts is so insensitive and so irresponsible. They are like barking dogs from nowhere. Mag-isip muna bago manloko, o talagang loko-loko. That is my opinion.
