Even though I had earlier asked everyone to move on from Jan-Jan and “Willing Willie,” 10 personal friends of mine asked me to comment on what appears to be the TOTAL ABSENCE of credibility of the investigation into the controversy.
I emphasize TOTAL ABSENCE of credibility for two reasons.
First, the child psychologist who wrote the letter that triggered the probe of Jan-Jan’s tearful macho dance was the mother of former ABS-CBN news anchor Ricky Carandang.
It’s public knowledge that ABS-CBN and Willie Revillame are in the midst of a court battle.
And Willie’s lawyer says the psychologist, Ma. Lourdes “Honey” Carandang, “did not disclose to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) that she's a paid consultant and lecturer of ABS-CBN.”
COMMON SENSE will tell anyone that Carandang WILL NEVER give a FAIR analysis on the issue.
We’re all entitled to the freedom of expression, yes.
But Jan-Jan’s parents, in suing Carandang, categorically declared that she was not their doctor and they don’t even know her. They added that Carandang did not consult the psychologist helping them and has not even talked to or examined Jan-Jan.
So WHAT CREDIBILITY can be extracted from Carandang’s immediate conclusion that Jan-Jan was abused by Willie?
Second, it’s Willie who is being PRINCIPALLY BLAMED for the purported abuse or exploitation of Jan-Jan. But the MTRCB would not listen to him because it says it could only sanction a program.
Anybody correct me if I’m wrong but Willie is not just an employee but a CO-PRODUCER together with TV-5. He’s CO-OWNER of “Willing Willie” and is therefore the show personified.
More importantly, it’s only Willie who can tell what’s on his mind when he allowed Jan-Jan to do, and go on with, the sexy dance despite being in tears. Not TV-5 executives.
If Carandang is entitled to the freedom of expression, SO IS WILLIE.
Unless the MTRCB conducts a TRULY THOROUGH, CREDIBLE and IMPARTIAL probe, the Jan-Jan CONTROVERSY will never fade away.
The MTRCB will be nothing less than a PUPPET of those who want to throw Willie Revilame into oblivion. 30
Whether Carandang examined the child or not, whetehr Carandang issued a statement or not and whether the investigating panel has credibility or not, this will not in anyway cast doubts on our minds that Willie committed child abuse. By allowing the child to dance a macho dance is to say the least improper... and he allowed this.
ReplyDeletemacho dancing or body language dancing is improper when performed by a child in public? During fiestas where there were masa who have amused themselves cheering for children dancing the body language dance even in groups on a program stage in a barangay because they look so cute would you call that improper? what is blatantly improper is fault finding in the most minute causes when there was no substance of ill will behind it a suspect character assassination or network assassination due to the controversy between abs cbn and wiilie's network. cmon guys i dont espouse willie's techniques in amusing the common masa where he captured down to earth the poverty stricken nation which leaves a very bad taste for the sophisticated view of the more literates segment nor am i amused the way he does it, but i am impartial in my judgement that Willie done nothing wrong with the janjan segment that should be clear and the goverment puts itself in ridicule and impartiality if it pushes a pressure which doesnt really protect the moral interest of the public but become the immoral savvies and tools of oligarchs as well as gullible myopic eyesights.
ReplyDeleteMr Revillame should be kicked off the air if TV5 wants to keep any semblance of credibility to itself. What Mr Revillame did was vile and inexcusable.
ReplyDeleteJan-jan's parents are OBVIOUSLY being helped by Mr Revillame's HIGHLY PAID LAWYER LEONARD DE VERA as well. So who's footing the bill? Carandang is a LICENSED PSYCHOLOGICAL EXPERT.
You are not.
We'd really rather believe in Dr. Carandang no matter who she works for, than believe the rants of Atty De Vera and blogging hacks, no matter who pays them big bucks to display their stupidity on National TV or all over the net.
TV5 is THE WORST TV CHANNEL to date. Mr Revillame is your Celebrity-gone-wild personified. And THAT show is tasteless, mindless and senseless. It deserves to be axed off the air once and for all.
We will continue to BOYCOTT ALL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES of companies airing ads on THAT filthy show until they too PULL OUT.
