BETTER FOR MERCI TO GO ON LEAVE, ASAP!

It would be best for Ombudsman Merci Gutierrez to GO ON INDEFINITE LEAVE IMMEDIATELY.

Her media handlers had better realize, and explain to her, that she is doing MORE HARM THAN GOOD to herself by remaining visible to the public eye. Especially to the PUBLICITY-HUNGRY congressmen who had voted to impeach her.

The presumption of innocence on the part of Merci can never be taken away, the demonization and media attacks notwithstanding. But she will be DEMONIZED BEYOND REDEMPTION if she doesn’t make herself invincible.

Give it a week or two, and her detractors will surely start claiming that she must be trying to HIDE or MANIPULATE something as the reason behind her continued stay at work.

Naturally, she’ll say of course not. But the follow-up question will be what guarantee or proof can she give?  Meanwhile, the media attacks on her reputation, and the division or polarization of the country, continue non-stop.

Merci can endlessly profess innocence, and claim that she has done no wrong.

But she must FACE it that at this point in time, NON-BELIEVERS greatly outnumber the BELIEVERS, and that she NEEDS A LOT, LOT , LOT MORE than dedication to her work to prove that she’s clean.

If Merci will say that she has a lot of pending jobs at the Office of the Ombudsman, all that her detractors have to counter with is the agency will still function even without her.

At the rate she is being handled, or is handling herself, Merci is FAST MOVING CLOSER and CLOSER to public condemnation that no amount of explanation or  due process can  pacify, easily or not.

She will go down in history, yes. But not just the first Ombudsman to be impeached  but the first Ombudsman who helped her CRITICS DESTROY HER. 30

BEN ENTICO of Manila:

We really have to organize to fight them. One, the gov't should re-acquire Petron, if it’s not possible, create its own oil company to compete with the cartel. That oil deregulation law is a stupid law. Parang binitay tayo sa mga oil companies. In the US they can deregulate because they have good enforcement of a good anti-trust law. Here we do not even have such law. Second we should lobby that there should be bike lines in every busy street of the metropolis so the people can bike instead of use cars. Third we should have shaded pedestrian walks especially in highly urbanized areas so the people may walk instead of ride.

JULIAN RABAGO of Cavite City:

Bike ang service namin dito pero affected pa rin kami ng oil price hike dahil tumataas din ang bilihin. Bakit di i-promote ang biking dito? Paano kasi maraming Pinoy ang tamad maglakad. Sa kabilang kanto lang pupunta magkokotse pa. Mano kayang maglakad na lang?
