PDEA SHOULD PROBE SALLY VILLANUEVA'S CLAIMS!

The claim of condemned Pinay drug mule Sally Ordinario Villanueva that she had been tricked by one Mapet Cortez, a.k.a. Tita Cacayan, deserves a VERY THOROUGH investigation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

And that is whether she gets executed or not.

First, the amount  given her to carry the suitcase containing the drugs was ONLY $500, TOO SMALL for anyone to WILLINGLY execute a crime as serious as drug smuggling.

Same argument for the monthly pay promised her, P25,000, had she not been caught.

Second, in her sworn statement, Sally’s CONISTENTLY placed the blame on Cortez, and not on any known enemy of hers or person with whom she had an axe to grind back in her province of Isabela.

She DID NOT CITE ANY GRUDGE against Cortez  from the time they met until she offered her the job of carrying the suitcase to China. So there is NO OTHER POSSIBLE REASON for her to link Cortez to the crime other than it was actually what had happened.

Third, Sally said she had a witness, her husband Hilarion, when Cortez gave her the suitcase and the $500.  Hilarion might be able to provide details which had been overlooked in the probe of the case.

A PERSONAL CONFRONTATION between Cortez and Hilarion would be a very good start for an in-depth investigation.

Let the confrontation be COVERED LIVE by media, with lie detector machines running as it’s happening, so the public will know the results on the spot.

Next, Sally said her mother accompanied her to the travel agency where she picked up the ticket for her China trip. Even if she could no longer recall the name, her mother can lead the authorities to it.

At the agency, investigators can ask for the name of the person who bought the ticket. If the agency says it’s Cortez herself, then they can ask her who and what’s the business of her boss.

Lastly, Cortez should explain WHY DID SHE HAVE TO PROVIDE the suitcase for Sally, considering that it was empty and Sally had her own.

You reap what you sow! Before you do anything illegal or immoral, you should make a decision right there and then what to do. If you choose to do the wrong thing, you should take the consequences when caught. No excuses that you made a mistake. You made a conscious decision to do something bad. Unless, you were duped into doing something that you were not aware of, then all the guidelines in this article should be imprinted in your mind.

When Garcia bargained with the Ombudsman, there’s already an admission of guilt. All his unexplained wealth were already documented and submitted to the Ombudsman”s office. The Ligots were caught lying. They pretended to be sick.

I think their assets must be frozen and/or sequestered.

How can he prove all his "exposes? " Maybe, given a chance by the new administration he will be able to do that. But he could not do that in the past administration for sure.

From a reader who asked to be called only as BENZ

The impeachment of MG should be based on "facts" and not because of her perceived corrupt practices because she was aligned with GMA. I hope Sen. Lacson will vote on the basis of "facts."  All of us who claim to be doing things "para sa bayan" should not just join the bandwagon of those who have been conditioned by paid or unpaid media.. 30

  2. PDEA might have already conducted a thorough investigation of this case since this had happened in 2008. sally's predicament must have been known to her relatives and therefore had seeked help, at the least, from the travel agency concerned. drug-trafficking cases are coordinated with the accused person's country embassy and/or interpol office, as a matter of protocol. for whatever reasons, this might have been kept away from the media. . .

  3. government authorities should be dead serious in identifying and sending to jail the people responsible in the sad fate of the three filipinos. it should zero in on those assigned at the checking area of our international airport's departure point. if those naia people are doing their jobs with diligence and honesty, the lamentable cases of villanueva et al and many others would have not happened. "DITO PA LANG SA AIRPORT, DAPAT AY NAHULI NA AT NAKUMPISKA NA ANG KANILANG MGA BAGAHE." but they were able to leave smoothly until they were apprehended in china, where they finally met their gloomy fate. if the government authorities are serious, they could start in identifying the people manning the departure check point when the three left the country. they have a lot of questions to answer and should automatically be sacked from their posts before more gullible filipinos are victimized.
