DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING FROM PNOY'S NEW VOW!

Until we see indisputable proof, we should not hope for, or expect anything from President Aquino’s futuristic vow of a new Philippines free from poverty and corruption.

For the simple reason that he didn’t cite SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS to the two problems when he made the vow in his Independence Day speech.

Pnoy reiterated that he won’t tolerate personnel extorting money from businessmen with transactions with the government.

But that IS NOT a solution. Since time immemorial, it’s been a law which should be implemented and followed to the letter by everybody in government, from the President down to janitors.

Pnoy DID NOT CITE any detailed plans or measures on how can the wages of government employees be raised to more reasonable and decent levels.

Especially those of policemen, soldiers and teachers.

Pnoy didn’t reveal any program or plan on how the lowest-paid government personnel can avail of discounts on food items to help them further stretch their salaries and make ends meet.

There were no plans for expanded educational assistance for children of government employees.

There was nothing on how can the number of scholars be increased to help State personnel cope with RISING education expenses like tuition.

Or how the Aquino Administration plans to bring down, and keep low, the costs of food, tuition and education, and other basic necessities in our daily lives.

Neither did Pnoy cite any programs to combat corruption or discourage government personnel from turning to it for survival.

No proposed STIFFER PENALTIES for corrupt government personnel, no new programs to unmask questionable wealth of State employees, no proposed solutions to the lack of COMPETENT government prosecutors for anti-graft cases, no nothing.

Anybody correct me if I’m wrong.

Pnoy’s vision of a poverty and corruption-free ‘new’ Philippines is fantastic. We all share, and will always share, in this dream.

But keep this in mind, boys and girls: WORDS ALONE can’t fulfill this dream. Until you see VISIBLE, PHYSICAL signs that he’s doing something to achieve it, DON’T LIVE ON FALSE HOPES. 30

  2. Hi Boyet,

I agree with Ms. Delia. Easier said than done. It needs a lot of effort and strong political will to stop corruption and elevate the poor.

  3. Ka Boyet, totoo yan. Inutil yan si PNOY at walang gagawing anuman para sa bayan. Parehas lang sila ni GMA na naglalagay ng mga kaibigan sa Gabinete......
