IF GOD CAN FORGIVE, WHY NOT THE ANTI-MARCOS?

QUESTION OF THE DAY

It’s just days before President Aquino delivers his first State-of-the-Nation Address. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate him and why?

**

To those still opposing a Libingan ng mga Bayani burial for former President Ferdinand Marcos, IF GOD CAN FORGIVE, WHY CAN’T YOU? Who do you think you are?

Mr. Marcos may have committed mistakes, serious and minor, during his presidency. Abuses, probably.

But the man is dead, and has been dead for 22 long years. Like all of us, he deserves all the honors he had earned during his lifetime, including a final resting place at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

None of you, or us, can deny that Mr. Marcos is a former president.

No less than the Armed Forces of the Philippines has certified that Mr. Marcos was a soldier who had fought, and in the process earned medals, during World War II.

These are two of the major criteria for a slot in the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

So unless you oppositionists can cite a law which nullifies being a former president and soldier as requirements, or provides for supposed sins and abuses in power as grounds to block, you don’t have any basis to prevent the burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

If you insist on Mr. Marcos’ supposed abuses as your justification, then you had better go to the Vatican and tell Pope Benedict that our Lord Jesus Christ was wrong in forgiving the repentant thief before they both died on the cross.

Come out also with any law, rule or doctrine which says it’s LEGALY AND MORALLY alright to deny the dead a privilege he had earned in life SOLELY on the objection by some.

That is, assuming that you believe in God.

And if you’ll say you do believe in God, then please explain why you’re practicing SELECTIVE FORGIVENESS and not ABSOLUTE which is how the Almighty wants it to be.

I’m not pro-Marcos. I never was and will never be. Neither do I work for the Marcoses and anybody can verify this anytime.

I’m raising this issue because the inhumanity towards the corpse of Mr. Marcos MUST STOP once and for all. Twenty-two years after his death and still, nobody has given a damn to accord him the final resting place he deserves.

Not because there is a legal barrier to it, but simply the public sentiment is supposedly against it.

In other words, POLITICS. Never mind if it’s contrary to God’s wish of absolute forgiveness, especially in the death of someone. Politics and MEDIA MILEAGE or PUBLICITY for anyone who will keep on talking about it.

Anybody can correct me if I’m wrong.

I just hope and pray that we won't have to go through any tragedy or nerve-wracking form of bad karma just to be reminded of God's word. 30

  1. Okay, supposing the news reports are all biased against MARCOS, and the reports are untrue, THEN the very FACT that Marcos was President and a decorated Soldier having defended HIS COUNTRY against the invaders, is surely grounds for his body being given an HONORARY STATE or MILITARY FUNERAL and interment in an HONORARY CEMETERY - if the Law allows it. I must admit that all I KNEW about MARCOS was from the portrayal of his actions on TV and Newspaper Media! - And I have to ADMIT, that they often GET IT WRONG because of BIAS in their job, or corrupt hand-outs! Journalists are NOT NECESSARILY handing out THE TRUTH all the time!

  3. The simple solution is change the name of the cemetery from Lingan ng mga bayani to Libingan ng mga dating pangulo at sundalo. Simple legislation lang yan. To call him a "Bayani" is not acceptable sa nakararami nating mga kababayan. Personally, kahit saan sya ilibing, walang diprensya. Kasi alam naman ng buong sambayanan kung ano ang ginawa nya during his time. It's part of History, you can't change.

  4. Well a simple question with a simple answer..
Pride makes it difficult for us to forgive those who have wronged us and for us to ask forgiveness of those we have wronged.

  6. The WORD is REPENTANT....One can only forgive somebody if that somebody had REPENTED and ASKED TO BE FORGIVEN. Even YOU AND I, if WE will not REPENT FOR OUR SINS, God cannot do anything for us.

And besides, what is wrong with him being buried in Ilocos? He is revered over there? Don't add insult to injury.
